By Wild Kiwi Team published on 19 July 2017
Trust us when say your New Zealand holidays won’t be complete without visiting Rotorua. Here are just a few things you can get up to during your visit.
The Resplendent Redwoods
Whakarewarewa Forest is home to around 14 acres of Redwood trees. It’s picturesque and they look like something out of a fairy tale. There are several different tracks and trails to follow, suitable for a variety of fitness levels, and one of our favourites is the Redwood Memorial Grove Track. This beautiful walk should only take you around half an hour, and provides unbeatable views and shows off New Zealand’s nature at its best.
Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland
Meaning sacred waters in Māori, at Wai-O-Tapu you can watch geysers erupt. It’s also one of the most colourful landscapes in the world, and you can see the famous bubbling mud pool too.
New Zealand Holidays Aren’t Complete Without Learning About Māori Culture
Tamaki Māori Village is a truly immersive experience. So, why not make the most out of your time there and get involved. Experience musical demonstrations and delicious food, all while learning about Māori culture and ancient traditions.
The Rotorua Skyline
Take in the stunning views of the city, the lake, and the geothermal landscape across Rotorua from a gondola. Or have a go at the luge, which is part toboggan, part go-cart and seriously SO much fun! You can also strap yourself in for an exhilarating Skyswing, or book yourself a place on a spectacular stargazing tour. See what we mean about being spoilt for choice?!
