Recognised for its outstanding natural environment, New Zealand is also home to some of the most breathtakingly beautiful sunsets. And we have a number of sunset spots you should definitely look forward to experiencing during your Wild Kiwi Tour!
Sunset Point, Hokitika
A true testament to the power of nature, Hokitika will take your breath away regardless of the time of day. The aptly named spot boasts sunsets that are truly enchanting, with the rich orange and pink hues reflected as far as the eye can see.

Lake Tekapo
The church of the Good Shepherd attracts visitors from the world over and a quick look at a few photographs will very quickly tell you why. Atmospheric and intensely calming, the area around Lake Tekapo is indicative of New Zealand’s heart and soul, and is something that is only magnified in the moments just before sundown.
Auckland City
There’s something magical about seeing the sunset against the bright lights and hustle and bustle of a city skyscape. Views from Auckland’s sky tower are gorgeous, with a sunset trip up to the top a must-do during your time in the city. Follow your sunset experience with dinner in the tower, set against a backdrop of twinkling stars and city lights is definitely a good idea!

Punakaiki
This beautiful spot on the edge of Paparoa national park is pure paradise. Soak in the afternoon sunshine and tuck into a delicious feast in one of the local cafés before sitting on the shoreline, taking in the sweeping views across the water. Bliss.

Milford Sound
The majestic mountains, ancient forests, wildlife and waterfalls make Milford Sound one of the most beautiful and ethereal locations in New Zealand. At sunrise and sunset though, things seem to somehow get even more magical. There’s something about the way the light streams through such an unspoilt landscape that feels special. A humbling and grounding experience, this is something you won’t ever forget.
